eBook Writing – 4 Mistakes People Make That Stop eBook Sales Dead In Their Tracks

1. Forgetting to distinguish between your customer and the end user of your ebook.
Sometimes the person who you are selling your ebook to is not the person who will actually be using it. For instance, you may sell an ebook to a business that gives it away to their customers for free. However, if you market to the customer and not the business you will end up with zero sales.

2. Creating an ebook that is difficult to sell online. Let’s say that you have an ebook and you are trying to sell it to people who have bad credit (this is a real example). Many of the people will not be able to purchase on line because their credit cards will be denied due to their bad credit! So this is not a good market to try and sell ebooks to!

3. Failing to understand what kind of products your market wants to buy. Some markets prefer ebooks while others prefer physical books. It makes no sense for example to sell a realtor an ebook to give to their clients. These people are interacting in person with their customers and need a physical book not an ebook.

4. Failing to do the homework to find out what the market will bear in your niche. If the going rate for an ebook in your market is $27 and you charge $99, chances are that you are not going to make very many sales UNLESS you either add a lot more value through bonuses or establish yourself as THE expert in such a way that you are in much higher demand than everyone else in your niche. The important thing is to understand your clientele and price your ebook accordingly.

Amazing Ebook Income – Revealed – 3 New Ways to Multiply Your Ebook Income

Selling the ebook by itself can already generate income. But you can still multiply your profit and gain more income with these 3 new methods.

One way of multiplying your ebook income is through advertisements. This method works just like in newspapers and magazines. You can approach this in three ways. First way is advertising your own materials. If you have any other products or services you would like other people to know, then allocate a space in your ebook to advertise them. The second approach would be selling advertisement spaces for other people in your ebook. Just like in newspaper and magazines, you can charge by full page, half page, quarter of page and whether its colored or not. The third approach is advertisement space trading. You could trade an ad space in your ebook for an ad space on another ebook or any other form of advertising.

Another way of multiplying your ebook income is by selling products. Your ebook can act as an advertising tool. This is very effective if you have your own ads in your ebook offering your other products and services. One effective way of doing this is by bundling the ebook as a freebie with other products over the internet. This way, the ebook can be easily decimated to other people thus giving more exposure to your other merchandise.

Selling rights to your ebook is another way of multiplying your ebook income. You can earn by selling the reprint rights to your ebook to other people who would like to sell the ebook for themselves. If you would like to even get more money, you may sell the master rights so that other people can sell reprint rights to it. You may think that this is not a lucrative way to earn but actually it is. This is a win-win situation wherein:

1) You earn money by selling the rights

2) if you have your own ads for your other products then you gain exposure and

3) you have earned money from other people by selling ad spaces. This method gives you nothing except for the opportunity to earn more.

Selling Ebooks – Fantasy or Nightmare?

Each of us is ‘selling’ in some form or another every day. We sell the concept of ‘ourself’ to people we interact with. We sell our ‘point of view’ to friends, family and colleagues. We sell our ‘ideas’ to partners and co-workers. We sell our ‘looks and appeal’ to dates and spouses.

Yet many of us do not think about ourselves as ‘salespeople’. Indeed to most, the term ‘salesperson’ carries a negative connotation. A lot of it is linked to the image we carry of the pushy, obnoxious door-to-door salesman or irritating tele-marketer.

And we carry this attitude of aversion towards selling into our efforts to selling ebooks. This makes it a nightmare. And then there are others who are ‘natural’ salespeople – and selling ebooks is a fantasy, an enjoyable ‘dream come true’ for them.

Let’s work at breaking down the barriers in your mind about selling ebooks.

You Are Providing Value

Unless you are selling ebooks that are complete trash, you are providing real value to your buyers. You are helping make their life better. You are helping them solve a problem. You are teaching them to create something, do something, have some benefit.

Isn’t that a good thing? Why would you feel hesitant or unsure about convincing them to buy your ebook?

You Are Saving Them Time and Trouble

By telling your buyers about an ebook that you have taken the time to either create, or read and review, you are saving them time, trouble and risk.

They don’t have to buy an ebook, read it to see if there is real value in it, and until that point, risk their money. You have taken the effort to do it – for the buyer, it now becomes risk free.

You Are Acting As Their Advisor or Consultant

This is why you should always think about the readers of any ebook you are selling as your clients, people under your protection.

Look at it like going to your financial advisor, or your doctor or lawyer. You go to these professionals because they offer you a service that enhances your life, wealth or health. For that benefit, you gladly pay them money.

Don’t you think people who buy any ebook you are selling will feel the same way too?

You Are Making Money Ethically and Honestly

By selling ebooks, you are earning money – and doing it in an ethical, honest, respectable way. In the process of growing your wealth, you are helping so many other readers of your ebooks to enjoy a better lifestyle than they had before.

Truly worthwhile wealth-creation has at its core the purpose of enriching others too. Writing and selling ebooks is one way of executing such a plan. Being an infopreneur is a real blessing.

Targeted Ebook Writing – 9 Ways to Make More Profit With Ebook Writing

Making more profit with ebook writing entails coming up with creative strategies to attract a target audience. Here are 9 ways to make more profit with targeted ebook writing:

1. Divide your ebook into several portions and publish them as separate newsletters that readers can subscribe to.

2. Find other related ebooks that targets the same type of audience. Try purchasing reprint rights to some of them and offer several ebooks in one package. This gives you leverage to charge higher.

3. Release different versions of your ebook and compose sales pages that compare them. For the higher-priced version, state benefits that directly affect your target audience.

4. Think of other audiences that might be interested in your ebook. List reasons why they will benefit and produce copies specifically designed for each of the other target audiences.

5. Also offer versions of your ebook packaged with reprint rights and charge with a higher price.

6. Offer your ebook in various formats that will make it available for both online and offline readers.

7. Continue to make money from your ebook by producing monthly updates and getting the readers of your original version to subscribe to them.

8. If there are sections you wrote for your ebook that you decided not to publish, offer this for sale as a separate report to those that have already read the original version. If you have satisfied your readers with your ebook, it won’t be a problem to entice them to purchase more information.

9. If possible, try to make all payments available on your website. If ebooks and its newsletters and updates can be paid for easily and are readily available, it will be easier for you to generate sales.

These are some tips that are not so commonly used. However, these have proven to be very successful strategies to make more money from ebook writing.

Selling Your eBook Resale Right – The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

I always thought that selling an eBook resale right was the fastest and most recognized way to make money on the internet. They are good because of the low overhead and start-up costs associated. I can buy a decent eBook/software for about $6.99 each. I can then repackage it by throwing in my name and contact, maybe even change up the script a little to make the eBook personalized. I’ll be able to sell it for $24.99 including the eBook resale right and make a cool $18 per eBook. Not bad, about a 250% profit margin. If I sell 4 books per day, I’ll be making $72/day which is about $504/wk. That’s pretty good considering it’s a 7 day work week and about the same salary or more for many people out there. $24,192 per year from selling 4 eBooks per day at $18 profit is good money on the side, and it really is possible for many to sell more.

The real trick is how you can do this without having to struggle a lot and put forth a ton of effort. If you’re looking to start selling with little money down and no advertising budget, then get ready for a long, tough ride. It varies depending on your situation, but most people will find that that the “bad” part of selling an eBook resale right is that it takes more time and effort than advertised. I always stress this because it is possible to work a day job and sell downloadable eBooks from the internet, but you’ll have much less time for yourself. If you don’t mind a long start-up period then no problem! But, if you want to start selling now and make money now, the bad part is that you have to put forth 2-4 hours per day creating your website and promoting it. Writing articles and joining forums is one of a few methods for free advertising. You want fast advertising so you have to write at least 1-5 articles of 300-500 words per day. Don’t forget to start a blog and post entries almost everyday.

The ugly part is that even after you spend 2-4 hours/day setting up your eBook resale right products webpage and writing articles, there is no guarantee that you’ll make a dent in the search engines. The engines, such as Google, pick up keywords in your articles and the more keywords that relate to your website, the better your results will be. I’ve known people to spend 4 hours/day for months trying to sell something, and they generated low traffic and no sales. As in all businesses, you have to have a marketing plan – even if it’s made in increments as you progress. Always have at least a short-term future marketing plan. You like reading? If so, great, but if not, that could get ugly.

In order to sell your products effectively and learn traffic techniques, you’ll need to read like a mad dog. I’ve read over 100 articles and helpful eBooks that I purchased (and am currently selling), and I’m still learning! Hours of just reading have been spent, but you need to do this if you don’t have a professional sitting beside you.

Selling an eBook resale right is profitable and you can make a living doing so, but just keep in mind that you can waste valuable time and effort if things are don’t properly. Educating yourself is the key to success, so read, read, read!

Will Dean is an ebook marketer that has recently established his online businesses and is now enjoying a healthy life from the internet. ABOUT PERRY MARSHALL (AUTHOR OF THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO GOOGLE ADWORDS)

Perry Marshall is a direct marketing expert. Perry is a published author, sells a number of products offering marketing advice and also offers a marketing and publicity service for a number of companies.

ABOUT THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO GOOGLE ADWORDS

Before I begin this review I want to let you know my experience with pay per click (PPC) advertising. I had tried PPC once before reading The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords, based on a recommendation in The Rich Jerk’s ebook. However, The Rich Jerk does not cover PPC in a great level of detail and as a result I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing. I simply deposited the money in the PPC account, entered all the keywords related to my website that I could think of from the top of my head, created an advert and ran the campaign. Although, I noticed increased traffic and increased Google Adsense earnings – I was losing money, I wasn’t tracking my PPC traffic and I didn’t know how to improve adverts or keywords. As you can see although I had experience of PPC before reading Perry’s guide, I didn’t know what I was doing and I would definitely consider myself an Adwords beginner.

In Perry’s words, The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords teaches you ‘How to Beat the Learning Curve and Generate Instant Web Traffic with the World’s Fastest Direct Marketing Machine’. In my own opinion, it is an extremely comprehensive guide to Google Adwords (weighing in at over 200 pages) which takes you from getting started with Adwords right through to mastering the Adwords system. The ebook is split into the seven broad chapters; ‘Getting Started’, ‘Managing the Basics’ and ‘Making your Traffic Pay’, ‘Tools, Tips and Tricks’, ‘Your Questions Answered’, ‘Improving your World’ and ‘Further Help and Services.’ But how well does Perry explain the complex Adwords system?

Perry begins with ‘Getting Started’ which is broken down into the following subsections:

- Google Adwords & The Art of War: Thill, Addiction, Obsession Fun!!

- Why Google Adwords is So Important and Why You’re Lost Without It!!

- Building a Campaign from Scratch: A Step-by-Step Example!!

- Anatomy of a Real Life PPC Campaign!!

- Your “Getting Started” Ad Content Checklist!!

- How to Advertise in Local Markets!!

In this pretty self explanatory first chapter Perry explains how to get your first Adwords campaign up and running. By far my the most useful section of this chapter to me was ‘Building a Campaign from Scratch: A Step-by-Step Example’. For the campaigns I have started this has been my blueprint. Screenshots are included every step of the way and I found it really easy to perform all the necessary research (something I didn’t have a clue about beforehand) and then create my first Adwords adverts. When I want to create a campaign I just get this section on screen and then follow it – it really is as simple as that. I also found the ‘Getting Started Ad Content Checklist’ very useful as a summary to the chapter. My main criticism of this chapter is that Perry recommends certain tools & services that cost a fair amount of money – some of which are pretty much essential to running your Adwords campaign. Having purchased this ebook I wasn’t expecting any additional expenditure apart from my Adwords fees so I was a little disappointed with this. However, in general this chapter does a great job and is responsible for improving my understanding of Adwords and getting my first adverts online.

The next chapter is entitled ‘Managing the Basics’ and covers:

- Campaigns, Adgroups & Keywords: How to Break Them All Down!!

- Keyword Status: How Google Rewards You For Relevance!!

- Andrew Goldman’s “Goldilocks Theory of Good Ad Copy”!!

- Expanded Phrase Matching & The Power of Negative Keywords!!

- Turning Solid Traffic from Ultra Generic Keywords!!

- Google Adwords Cheat Sheet!!

This chapter follows on nicely from ‘Getting Started’ and explains how you can improve the efficiency of your Adwords campaigns. Whereas the main aim of the first chapter is simply to get your Adwords campaign running, ‘Managing the Basics’ shows you how to organise your adverts, keywords etc, so that they are more relevant. How Google rewards you for relevancy is explained in greater detail by Perry, but in simple terms more relevant adverts get better Click Through Rates (CTRs), lower keyword costs and better positions, so it’s definitely in your interests to have relevant adverts. Overall, I found this to be another great chapter. Perry includes lots of sample adgroups as examples to help you learn, and shows you how to improve the relevancy for all of them. I’ve applied these principles to my own Adwords campaigns (which have been running for a month at the time of writing) and I’m pretty happy with the conversion rates. I know that there’s still room for improvement but I’m pleased with the results after one month.

The third chapter is ‘Making Your Traffic Pay’ and discusses:

- Converting Your Traffic to Sales: The Most Critical Success Ingredient!!

- Your Most Strategic Number!!

- Perry Marshall’s Web Traffic Conversion Cheat Sheet!!

- The Importance of Tracking Conversions and Sales!!

- Hands On Conversion Tracking: A Real Life Example!!

- Moving Products Like Hotcakes, But Barely Breaking Even!!

- Using Google’s Conversion Tracker!!

- What are Turn-the-Corner Keywords, and Why are They Critical!!

- Value per Visitor and Affiliates!!

- Google’s Stricter Affiliate Policy: Why It’s Good News for You!!

- The Absolute Paramount Importance of Split Testing!!

With this chapter Perry makes a very good point about Adwords – Your traffic is useless unless you can convert it into customers. The most useful part of this chapter for me was the advice on turning content traffic (Google Adsense) on or off for your Adwords campaign as it’s not really something I had considered before. Plus there’s a great tip in there which will help you avoid a bidding war and save quite a lot of money, whilst sacrificing only a little traffic. However, my overall impression of this chapter is that it wasn’t as good as the previous two. Although it is well written, contains plenty of examples and is easy to follow I found that I didn’t learn as much from this chapter. The first two chapters taught me how to set up and manage an Adwords campaign – something I could not do before reading this ebook. With this chapter I already had a general idea of how to write adverts and landing pages that would convert (maybe due to my experience as a seller on eBay), and this chapter affirmed my ideas rather than teaching me any new skills.

Perry then goes on to discuss ‘Tools, Tips & Tricks’. This section covers the following topics:

- Google Image Ads: Taking Advantage of Another Great Medium!!

- Site-Targeted Adsense!!

- Tweaking your Account with Google’s Bells and Whistles!!

- Cool Tips & Tricks for Generating New Keywords!!

- The Power of Capitalisation!!

- How to Test Your Product Idea Before You Develop Your Product!!

- Special Report: Do Less, Earn More & Live Better!!

This part of the ebook contains a lot of additional information about advertising using Adsense adverts on other people’s websites, rather than through the Google search via Adwords. Like with the other sections of the ebook, Perry explains the material well and includes plenty of examples. However, I’ve not experimented with Adsense as an advertising medium yet, so I can’t comment on how effect
ive it is. Perry also uses this chapter to discuss the other tools Google offers Adwords users and offers a few more tips. Again, although this is a good chapter it just wasn’t as useful to me as the first two.

After this Perry goes on to answer readers questions in the chapter ‘Your Questions Answered’:

- What to Do When Keywords Cost $5-$10 per Click!!

- When You’re Up Against Stiff Competition: A Tidy Summary!!

- FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions!!

This chapter does exactly what it says on the tin – answers customer questions related to Adwords. Obviously, the value of this chapter is unique to the individual and the problems they are having. In his answers Perry conveys a lot of good information, but most of it can be found in other sections of the ebook.

The sixth chapter is ‘Improving Your World’ which includes the following subsections:

- An Unusual Application of Pay Per Click!!

- Shade for the Children: Feeding & Clothing Orphans!!

The above are bullet points are two articles by Perry which make up this chapter. Unlike the rest of this ebook these articles are not really instructional but still a good read nonetheless.

In the final chapter Perry goes onto explains sources of ‘Further Help & Services’ which includes:

- How to Get More Help with Your Campaigns!!

- More Tools & Resources from Perrry Marshall!!

- Epilogue: Restroom Confessions of a Millionaire Marketer!!

The beginning of this chapter contains a list of links for extra services from Perry. Then the epilogue teaches you how to build a list of customers and get backend sales. This was useful information and is a very valid strategy, but it was nothing new to me.

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Perry Marshal’s The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords to anyone who wants to get a foothold in this market. I’m being completely honest when I say I didn’t have a clue about how to use Adwords properly before reading this guide. At the time of writing I’ve run multiple campaigns – some successful, some not – and achieved average click through rates of 1.5% and conversion rates of 20%. There’s room for improvement for sure but I now know what I’m doing. I can use the Adwords program to generate traffic and I can convert this traffic into newsletter subscribers. It is a big increase in spending compared with what I am used to, but that’s the price you pay for instant traffic. My intention when reading this ebook was to learn how to use Google Adwords to generate valuable website traffic and this ebook gets full marks because that is exactly what it has taught me.

GOOD POINTS

- The detailed step-by-step instructions with screenshots really help. You can implement the information as you read.

- There’s plenty of examples which again are a great help. If something doesn’t click at first, a different example often aids understanding.

- The ebook is really well written and easy to read. Perry provides just the right mix of instructional information, real life stories and examples, which makes the ebook really enjoyable to read.

- It’s great value for money. I’ve paid a similar price for ebooks which are less than fifty pages in length and quite happily done so. However, with over 200 pages in the main ebook plus all the free bonus Perry really has delivered.

BAD POINTS

- There are additional tools and services which you have to pay for. I wasn’t expecting to have to pay more than my Adwords fees.

HOW I HAVE GAINED FROM THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO GOOGLE ADWORDS

As I mentioned earlier in the review I’m getting an average click through rate of 1.5% and converting this traffic at around 20% Not only have I gained new subscribers but I’ve also learnt how to use Adwords – a useful skill that I did not have before reading this ebook.

Productive Ebook Creation – 4 Keys to Ebook Creation

If you are interested in productive ebook creation, there are 4 keys that you need to keep in mind and then follow to accomplish your goal. Through this short article, you are provided with the 4 primary keys associated with productive ebook creation in this day and age.

First, when it comes to productive ebook creation, you must make certain that the content of your ebook is well written. Poorly written content in an ebook absolutely is inexcusable. Moreover, it also utterly is unprofessional.

Second, when it comes to productive ebook creation, the ebook itself needs to be attractive in appearance. Like it or not, you actually can judge a book by its cover when all is said and done.

Third, productive ebook creation intimately is tied to effective ebook marketing. You must have a strong marketing plan to ensure that you generate interest in your ebook. Marketing and promotion are vital to the ultimate success of your ebook ventures – today and into the future as well.

Finally, the bottom line of any productive ebook creation venture depends upon making certain that the ebook itself is on a topic that has appeal to the public at large – or to a market niche that you have the ability of reaching. In the final analysis, it does absolutely no good to create an ebook that no one will have an interest in reading – no matter how well it might be written and no matter how nicely it might appear.

From Unpublishable to Profitable Writing and Selling EBooks

I’d just finished a book for a traditional New York publisher and was waiting on a promised contract from another publishing house. Because I knew I’d be working on a book soon, I didn’t want to get involved in a major project…but I also wasn’t sure what to do to scratch my creative itch – or contribute to our family funds.

Then I ran across some material about eBooks. My interest was sparked. Hmmm, I wondered. Do I have an eBook in me?

On a whim, I removed a free “how to” article from one of my websites, formatted it into an eBook, and plopped it into an eBay auction. I’d offered my print books on eBay for over ten years (always in a category that corresponded with the book’s topic), and they’d sold well. But how would an eBook do? I figured I had little to loose, since I’d originally written the material for a long-defunct newsletter and no other publisher would find the material publishable today.

To my delight, I immediately made sales. Stunned by my success, I added an eBook page to my website…and made even more sales.

It seemed almost too good to be true. I was spending very little time creating, marketing, and distributing the eBook. Each sale was almost pure profit; my only costs were an eBay listing fee and a small charge for accepting credit cards.

Creating and selling eBooks also fit well into my lifestyle as a new mom who was trying to juggle work and caring for a baby.

What else could I turn into an eBook? I wondered.

How about a short book on pregnancy bed rest, which I’d written to pass the time while on bed rest myself? All I had to do was format the book and put it up for sale. Since women on bed rest can’t visit bookstores, it was a great topic for an eBook, and sold well.

And then there was the book on singing that I’d written and published via Print on Demand (POD). The book was already in .PDF format on my computer, so all I had to do was announce that it was now available in electronic format. I made it just a bit cheaper than the print version, and soon readers from all over the world were snatching it up.

These eBooks were so successful, and consumed so little of my time, I even wrote an eBook about writing and selling eBooks. It took a bit more commitment (it was the first eBook I wrote from scratch), but it’s already helped many writers explore – and profit from – the eBook experience.

From now on, when I’m in between projects, there’s no doubt what I’ll be doing: Writing eBooks. It’s quick, fun, and profitable! I think you’ll find it so, too.
